What is the best way to stop drinking alcohol? Share your thoughts in the comments!

2018 A new year, a new journey. No resolutions for me this year, but a continuation I started 27 August 2017. A life of sobriety. Today I am 151 days clean and sober from drugs and alcohol. My body has changed from ravishingly high blood sugar and deafening anxiety to a calmer regulated inner and outer being.

No more alcohol has leveled my A1C levels, along with my diabetic medicine. I was diagnosed in 2012 and have finally allowed myself to have a freedom of accepting my type 2 diabetes. With this new freedom, I eat, sleep, and play in a much healthier way than when I was walking around as an active addict.

My anxiety has reached a sense of self-motivation now. I am accepting the things I cannot change and changing the ones I can. I am learning to let go and allow my higher power to guide my now clearing mind. I am no longer drinking to escape, I can now feel and face. This has truly been a blessing for my anxiety.

I did not become an alcoholic overnight, nor did I welcome diabetes and anxiety in at day one. I am learning, one day at a time, that through my accepting my diseases, I can choose to make wise decisions to alleviate them the best I can.

I deserve to be that person I, my family, and my friends, can be proud of.
