Type 2 Diabetes is the most common type of diabetes that occurs in the body with almost no cure but has several ways it can be managed to reduce the effects on the body. Type 2 diabetes usually occurs as a result of the human body not creating enough insulin to help keep the level of the blood sugar at a normal range. Blood sugar is essential in the body but too much of it is dangerous as it can cause damage to the body over time. Thus, before type 2 diabetes can occur there must not be enough insulin in the body or that the body cells doesn’t recognize the present insulin which results to excess sugar level in the body.
Type 2 diabetes is a kind of diabetes which usually occurs during adulthood at least between 30-40 years of age although this has increased in most teenagers as well.
There are however some groups of people who are more likely to have type 2 diabetes and these people include:
- Those who have diabetes running in their family
- People with high blood pressure
- People who are obese or overweight
- People who are diagnosed to have impaired glucose tolerance which usually occur when the sugar level is higher than normal but not enough to be called diabetes.
- Europeans within the age range of 40 and above
There are several ways in which type 2 diabetes can be present in the body which may even in some cases be unknown to people suffering from it.

- Lack of energy and fatigue
- Constant feeling of hunger
- Paying irregular visit to the toilet
- Constant feeling of thirst
- Frequently having infections
- Having blurred vision or poor eyesight

As earlier said, there seems to be no cure for type 2 diabetes yet but proper management can be ensured to reduce the level of its effect on the body and this can either be through adequate exercise, healthy food choices or medications prescribed by the doctor to reduce the level of blood sugar in the body and improve the use of insulin in the body. However, insulin can also be used to manage type 2 diabetes and this can be achieved through healthy food choices, weight loss and exercise (this helps the body to make adequate use of insulin).
Hence, type 2 diabetes may be the most common and dangerous type of diabetes with no permanent cure yet but with relevant knowledge about the ways it can be managed, people suffering from it can also have a chance to live normally like other people with no signs of diabetes in their body.
